After years of suffocating under her boss’s scrutiny, whale biologist Zoe Morgan finally lands a job as director of a tagging project in Hervey Bay, Australia. Success Down Under all but guarantees her the promotion of a lifetime, and Zoe won’t let anything—or anyone—stand in her way. Not the whale voices she suddenly hears in her head, not the ex who won’t take no for an answer, and especially not the gorgeous figment of her imagination who keeps saving her from the fiery hell of her dreams.

Gavin Cassidy hasn’t been called to help a human Wyldling in over a year, which is fine by him. Still blaming himself for the death of his partner, he keeps the guilt at bay by indulging in every excess his rock star persona affords. That is, until he’s summoned to protect Zoe from hungry Fyre Elementals and learns his new charge is the key to restoring order in the dying Dreaming. He never expects to fall for the feisty Dr. Morgan…nor does he realize he may have to sacrifice the woman he loves to save an entire country.
But for the pink polo shirt and linen trousers over deck shoes, the guy would look quite frightening, as he filled the gateway on his way through it. “I’m Detective Chief Inspector Price, Metropolitan Police. I’d like to talk to you about a Mr Arthur Trent. Do you know Mr Trent?” “Yes, but I wouldn’t say that I actually ‘know’ him, as such. I interviewed him a couple of days ago for a piece I’m writing for a website. What’s this all about?” “It would be better if we spoke inside, Mr Jackson – the situation is a little delicate at this moment in time.” “Sure, come around to my office; we can talk there. Follow me.” Wil led the Inspector around the side of his end terrace and through another gate, taking him into the back garden and towards his living-ark office. He unlocked the door and slid it to one side. The cool air from the inside washed across them. “Seems like it would be more comfortable to talk in there,” Price said. “Air-conditioning?” “No, it’s all part of the design. Stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer, perfect for working in, an office away from home, although not quite. Pretty geeky too, isn’t it? Would you like a cup of tea?” “Err…yes.” Wil raised an eyebrow in enquiry. “Sorry. Yes to the tea, and your shed. Milk no sugar, please.” “Come in and take a seat.” Wil waved towards a smart red leather sofa centre-piecing a wall of his office. “I’ll put the kettle on.” Price relaxed into the plush sofa and had a good look around the interior. It was clearly, first and foremost, an office of sorts, although from the outside, it looked a little like something out of a science fiction movie. One wall contained a work bench with monitors, telephone, computers and a printer, as well as a disarray of paperwork scattered across the surface. The side where Price was sitting was mostly taken up by the sofa but also had some bookshelves with a mixture of what looked to be science fiction novels crossed with text books and other works of non-fiction. Price watched Wil as he moved towards the back corner of the room, where there was a kettle and a coffee maker. As with the computer hardware and other paraphernalia in the room, these looked rather sedate, but apparently functional. There were a further two doors on the back wall; Price guessed that one probably led to some kind of bathroom, but had no idea what might lie behind the other. In between th! em stood a wood burning stove with a polished, galvanised chimney, which rose to the ceiling; it was showing some blueing from heat at the joins. Price continued to watch Wil; he didn’t look to be a very likely murder suspect, more like an out of place schoolboy. Somewhere between nerd and geek, he hardly looked capable of blowing someone up – although appearances could be deceptive, and judging by the amount of technology and other bits and pieces in this one room alone, he wouldn’t be at all surprised if Wil Jackson had more than one skeleton in his closet. Wil turned from his tea making duties with a cup of steaming brew in his hand, which he passed to Price. After taking a second cup, he settled into his office chair at the work bench. “Now, what’s all this about Arthur Trent?” Wil asked, raising an eyebrow. “When you saw Mr Trent, was it in his office, Mr Jackson?” “It was, down in the Docklands. That big tower, owned by the bank he worked for – great view from forty-four floors up. I still don’t understand what I can help you with, though, Inspector, err, Price, wasn’t it?” “Yes, that’s right, Gavin Price. Mr Trent is dead, sir – murdered by the looks of things, and we’re trying to establish who he saw in the last few days of his life. That’s why I need to speak to you. It seems as though you were one of the last people to actually see him alive.” Suddenly it all made sense to Wil; the news report, and now the policeman on his doorstep asking questions.
<div onclick="toggleShowHide('hiddenText')" style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">To Read an Excerpt (Click here.)

Jump Start Your Start-Up

“Write what you know” is perhaps the most quoted saying about writing. Though it is likely apocryphal, it is most often attributed to Mark Twain. P.J. O’Rourke, on the other hand, has said that any creative writing teacher who utters these words should be “confined to a labor camp.”

No matter. When I started forming the plot for Terminal Value, I confess that I did start by writing what I knew—specifically, what it was like to be an entrepreneur who decided to take a gamble and start a company. Make no mistake: MobiCelus bears no resemblance to my firm, and Dylan is not me! However, the experience of taking the plunge of starting an enterprise, and then making the difficult decision of whether or not to sell it, is definitely familiar territory.

I’m often asked for advice from would-be entrepreneurs who seem to think that I know what the magic sauce is that will ensure success. I don’t. No one does. Indeed, data from the U.S. Small Business Administration show that, regardless of the year when they are founded, the majority of start-ups go out of business within five years, and two-thirds are no longer operating after 10 years.

What are the keys to launching a successful start-up? While there are many experts out there who have published thousands of books and articles on this subject, most seem to have differing views (though pretty much everyone will tell you it all begins with a great business plan). By all means, read up. But, based own my own experience, here are seven things to consider:

First, have a very clear vision of exactly what your business will be. One way to do this is to create a unique customer value proposition—basically, a statement that defines your business from the customer perspective. It clearly and concisely identifies your most desirable customers, defining what unique and attractive value you can deliver and how it is that only you are able to deliver it.

Second, make sure you are well financed. How much you need depends on what kind of business you are going to launch. Some require a lot of money, and you may need to seek financing or be backed by venture capitalists. (Warning: taking money from venture capitalists means you are ceding some degree of control of your enterprise to others, which may come back to haunt you!) Others require far less capital. I funded my business myself by not taking any income for the first year. Of course, not everyone can do that.

Third, be dogged about lining up your customers—preferably before you even get into business. Talk to prospects, tell them what you plan to do, gauge their interest, and if possible see if you can get a commitment. This is critical—I’ve met too many entrepreneurs who spend endless hours fiddling with what their logo should look like when they should be taking potential customers to dinner!

Fourth, assemble the very best people you can possibly find. There is an old adage that “A” players attract “A” players, and “B” players attract “C” players. Don’t just hire people for the skills you need; hire people who are so good they scare you. If you think that they could someday take your job, you’re definitely on the right track.

Fifth, run your business very lean. No need for fancy offices, furnishings, or employee perks when you are getting started. What money you do have you’ll want to focus on two simple things: marketing and selling as efficiently as possible, and delivering value that far exceeds your customers’ expectations. Quickly building a strong reputation is everything.

Sixth, stay adaptable. Markets change, innovation is a constant, and your business can easily be demolished by a disruptive technology that makes what you offer no longer relevant. Pay attention to what is going on that could blindside you, not only in your part of the business world but in others.

What is the seventh key to success? Guts. I can’t tell you how many incredibly brilliant people I have met in my life who talk endlessly about starting a business—but never do. Yet there are plenty of successful entrepreneurs who didn’t get a fancy MBA from Harvard. They just did it. What’s the worst thing that can happen? Simple. After a year or two, if it doesn’t work out, you just go get a regular job like everybody else.

Synopsis:
THE DESCENT INTO HELL IS NOT ALWAYS VERTICAL…

Sam Hudson, a reputable San Diego attorney, learns this when the authorities wrongfully convict him of the brutal rape and murder of his wife and daughter, and sends him to death row. There he awaits execution by lethal injection.

If he survives that long.

In prison, Sam fights for his life while his attorney works frantically on his appeal. It is then that he embraces the faith of his departed wife and begins to manifest supernatural abilities. Abilities which help him save lives– his own, those of his unlikely allies–and uncover the true killer’s identity, unlocking the door to his exoneration.

Now a free man, Sam’s newfound faith confronts him with the most insurmountable challenge yet. A challenge beyond vengeance, beyond rage, beyond anything Sam believes himself capable of: to forgive the very man who murdered his family, according to his faith. But this endeavor reveals darker secrets than either Sam or the killer could ever have imagined. Secrets that hurtle them into a fateful collision course.
Crave

by Felicity Heaton

His mind has been set on his work for the past one
hundred years. Now a forbidden beauty has stolen his attention and is
threatening to steal his heart too.

Callum has come to the city of romance on business, not pleasure, but
when he sets eyes on a gorgeous werewolf in a nightclub, he can’t
ignore the dark carnal craving she ignites in him. His work for
Vampirerotique, the erotic theatre he runs with three other vampires,
can wait. The only thing that matters now is satisfying his sinful
hunger for a woman who most vampires would consider an enemy.

Kristina is on the run from her pack. Her alpha is intent on forcing
her to bear his child and she’s not about to live through the same
nightmare as her mother had. When a tall, dark and sexy vampire catches
her eye, she can’t believe the ferocity of the desire he unleashes in
her or the fact that she enjoys the feel of his eyes on her and his
silent pursuit of her in the clubs each night.

When Kristina finally gets a taste of Callum in a forbidden kiss,
will she be strong enough to resist the allure of the vampire and his
offer to share his bed for a week of unbridled, wild sex, or will she
surrender to her own craving for the safety and passion she finds in his
embrace?

A romance between a hot vampire male and a sexy female werewolf? Yes please!

Callum is a centuries old vampire breaking all the rules when he becomes obsessed with a werewolf as he is scouting for new talent in Paris. Werewolf talent, for the erotic vampire theatre he runs with his fellow vampires in London. But, one look at the sexy Kristina and he forgets about the talent he should be searching for, and takes on a new mission of his own. A very personal mission.

Kristina is a werewolf on the run from her pack and the man who is alpha. When she first notices a man watching her, she is afraid that her pack has found her. but, when she realizes he is vampire, not werewolf, she becomes intrigued, and a bit obsessed herself.

These two defy convention by falling for each other, and defy their friends and species by fighting to stay together. And the sex ain't half bad either *ahem*

Just like the first in this series, this installment is hot, Hot, H. O. T.

I give it a 5!
Jolie may possess a rare gift for reanimating the dead, but she doesn’t know the first thing about governing disparate factions of supernatural creatures. She can barely maintain order in her own chaotic personal life, which is heading into a romantic tailspin.
First there’s sexy warlock Rand, the love of her life, from whom Jolie is hiding a devastating secret. Then there’s Sinjin, a darkly seductive vampire and Jolie’s sworn protector—though others suspect he harbors ulterior motives. As the two polar opposite yet magnetic men vie for Jolie’s affection, she must keep her wits about her to balance affairs of state and affairs of her heart. Overwhelmed, under pressure, and longing for love, Jolie decides it’s time to take charge—and show everyone that this queen won’t take jack.
Reviews on shorts are so hard to write without giving away the entire thing, but I shall do my utmost best to remain spoiler free. Also making this a bit difficult is that I positively shudder at the thought of having to think about these particular stories again. *shudder* <-- See! That's me shuddering. These are two horrific stories, straight outta someone's nightmares (maybe it was something they ate) and onto my ereader. Almost had me sleeping with the lights on, they did.

Brutal reads like the beginning of an episode of Criminal Minds or a really good murder mystery. One would expect, if this hadn't been a short, that we would have watched or read about the killer's next kills, the policemen who discover them and the crack detectives/psychic/meddling old lady who solves the case. And personally, I'd like to read how the storyline continues and how it eventually plays out.

Perfection reads like the nightmare a rather overweight person would have prior to signing up for counseling at a food addiction rehab center. Though I'm not even sure they would go to the places this story takes you. But I definitely do know that I would not be signing up for this version of perfection.

I also know that I will be signing up to read the sequel to both of these stories in the near future.

I give them each 5 out of 5.
Andre was born
January 13, 1981. At a young age he was fascinated with the written word. It was
at fourteen that Poe blew his mind, and Andre began to dabble with darker
poetry.

Between the years of 1999 and 2007 Joel was featured in various
poetry anthologies and publications. In 2008 he released his first collection,Pray
the Rain Never Ends.

Knowing there was something deeper and darker
inside of his soul, Joel decided to take a stab at commercialism. Releasing the
dark tongue in cheek, A
Death at the North Pole, created a dark world among the death of Kris
Kringle. Ultimately providing a tale of redemption.

October of 2008 saw
Joel release his second book, Kill
4 Me. A tale in which a woman is haunted by a vengeful spirit through text
messages and instant messaging.

Taking some time off and doing a lot of
soul searching, Joel took things in a new direction and dabbled in the Fantasy
Genre with, The
Pentacle of Light. The tale dealing with five major races battling for
control of Earth, and the acceptance of their God.

Finally, after missing
his detective Lauren Bruni, he released the book The
Return in October 2009, this time moving the action from the North Pole and
placing it in the small Arizona community he was raised in.

Andre’s
latest book is The Black Chronicles: Cry of the Fallen about a dead man who
seeks revenge on the woman that tormented him in peaceful Northern
Arizona.

Currently, he resides in Chandler, AZ.

You can visit his

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Suspicious circumstances, government conspiracies, tragic deaths, and danger await..........

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Dr. Alyssa Foster chose the exact wrong day to fill in for a coworker. During her shift, she must perform an exam on an inmate, hoping that no good deed goes unnoticed, and she will be offered a permanent position in just two weeks. In return for her favor, she gets kidnapped by said inmate, whom later finds out that it wasn't Alyssa he wanted, it was the coworker she filled in for he needed. By then, it's too late for her to get out, as the prison guards and her coworkers (and eventually the escapee) have pointed to her as an accomplice. So, she is forced to see this thing through to the end.

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Teague Creek is a dangerous man on a mission. And, dare I say, this guy is hot. And this is both literally and figuratively. Some years ago, Teague and his fellow firefighters were called upon to put out a fire in a warehouse containing some strange and confidential chemicals. Shortly afterwards, the team (minus the friend they lost in the blaze) suffered some rather unique side effects, each discovering a personal super "power" as it were. Teague's super power-extreme heat and the ability to cause quite a spark *ahem* Teague is my favorite kind of romance hero, a tortured one. After the blaze, his wife commits suicide, his new girlfriend is murdered , a crime for which he is convicted, his ex-brother-in-law gains custody of his daughter....see, tortured. While spending his time in prison, he hatches an insane plan to escape while taking a woman hostage and then using her as ransom in exchange for his daughter. One problem though, he kidnapped the wrong woman.

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
In a series of events that could only be explained by Mr. Murphy and his laws, the two end up hiding in a hunting cabin, while Teague plans his next moves, and Alyssa still searches for a way out, and then starts searching for answers. What neither of these two were expecting was the degree of their mutual attraction, and the lengths that they both will have to go before being able to find their HEA.

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Fever was an exciting read, loaded with intrigue, action and adventure, all wrapped around a hot and steamy center. And what excited me the most?? This is just the first book in a series! So, yes, more of these hot guys we have met, I do hope, and maybe some more answers to the questions swimming around in my brain.

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
They’ve burned for each other for two years, the
forbidden attraction between them growing each night. Now resisting the
sinful desires of their hearts is becoming impossible.

Javier knows better than to succumb to his hunger for Lilah. The
mortal female belongs to a powerful aristocrat patron of Vampirerotique,
the theatre he runs with three other vampires. A single touch is all it
would take to break the sacred law of his kind, sentencing himself to
death, but his passion for her has become too fierce to ignore and he
will risk everything to make Lilah his.

Lilah has fought her desire for Javier since arriving at his theatre
as a servant but each glance he has stolen, his eyes promising pleasure
that will satisfy her longing for him, has chipped away at her defences
and she can no longer deny her need and her forbidden feelings for the
powerful vampire male.

When they find themselves alone in a private box during one of the
erotic performances, will they surrender to their passion and live out
their wildest fantasies in a night of wicked pleasure or will the threat
of Lilah’s master keep them apart forever?

This was my first novel by Ms. Heaton, but it most certainly won't be my last!

It's a story of forbidden lust and eventual everlasting love that won't easily be forgotten.

Javier is an elite vampire who is a business partner in Vampirerotique, an exclusive erotic theater for vamps.

Lilah is a beautiful human woman, "owned" by a vampire aristocrat, and is thus forbidden territory to all other vampires.

When Javier has no choice but to approach Lilah while she is cleaning a private box, and they are secluded but able to watch the performance on stage, they are both consumed by their feelings for the other. Rather steamy feelings if you catch my meaning...*ahem*

After a night given to pleasures that neither should want or even be capable of, all heck breaks loose when her vampire master comes to reclaim her, and the two must fight to stay together. And I mean this rather literally.

This novella is so full of steamy goodness, I suggest you don't read it in public, or at work, or in front of anyone other than you latest luv. Great idea for a Valentines Day read.

Justin has had enough. Ella, the woman who healed his broken heart, has been cancelling on him for two months straight. Sure, she’s busy with her job, which has her traveling far and wide. But that never stopped her from sharing nights of trivia, long conversations and blazing hot sex—until now. Truth to tell, he misses their easy friendship, the way her sighs fill his ear as he fills her body.

Once back at her lonely apartment, though, she’s back to her painfully shy self—until Justin. End it now, before their intimacy digs too deep.

Suddenly he’s at her door with a length of neon-green rope and a naughty proposition, daring her to say no. Just how good could it be? There’s only one way to find out…

Eighteen isn’t too young to run your life into the ground, but it’s not too old to fix it, either. The desire for change drives Willa Kirk from St. John’s, Newfoundland back to her hometown of Smiths Falls, Ontario, away from her mistakes and the place where her sister died. She’s looking for a place to settle and rebuild, but Jem Harper just wants to get out of town, back to the life he knew before cancer. By letting the tragedies in their lives define them, they are both dying a little more every day. Welcome to the wake.

Guest Post: Abria Mattina

Author of WAKE
Reasons to Enjoy NaNoWriMo (and not look down on it)

Last month, I tried my hand at writing a thirty-day novel as part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). It sounded completely crazy and therefore totally fun. And in the age of the internet, it took me about five minutes to encounter party-poopers who like to look down their noses at NaNoWriMo.

Some blogs of (yet unpublished) authors disparaged the thirty-day writing ‘competition’ in which participants are challenged to produce a fifty-thousand-word novel. Their reasons for disapproving of NaNoWriMo are varied—that a good novel can’t beproduced in thirty days; that people just do it for attention; that ‘real’ publishing
professionals dread it because their slush pile increases tenfold in December, etc.

In answer to that, I’d say it’s not all about the glory of publication. For some people it’s just a fun exercise. They want to prove to themselves that they have the self-discipline and creativity to finish such a daunting and prolonged project—and their ambition ends there.

Some people like the sense of community that NaNoWriMo offers is the main appeal. They like being part of a group with a common goal, encountering the same challenges, frustrations, and successes as their peers. It can be fulfilling to participate in something that’s so much larger than you and your little writing project.

Other people just work better when they have a deadline. Certain personality types can only respond to pressure when there is a sense of urgency, and the stat counter on NaNoWriMo’s website will cause that sense of urgency.

I don’t doubt that the slush piles of publishing industry professionals increase in December, but let’s remember that the people who send out their freshly drafted manuscripts are few among many. Most Wrimos know that their thirty-day novel is nothing more than a first draft, and that the time to start querying agents and publishers is not December 1st. Don’t let a few overeager people sour your entire view of National Novel Writing Month.

Synopsis: (from the book site)
Ken and Melissa are at the dawn of a magnificent life together. A passionate romance has led them to the doorstep of marriage. While searching for the perfect wedding present for Melissa, Ken stumbles into a mysterious shop. There, he is given an extraordinary opportunity – to look in on Melissa when she was a girl. Ken has always wished he could have known Melissa from the day she was born and this seems like an incredible blessing. Until he discovers a terrible secret in Melissa's past, one so awful she has found it impossible to mention to him.

Now Ken has another extraordinary opportunity. He can go back in time and change the horrible event that has left an indelible mark on Melissa. He can free her of this burden – but doing so could change things so completely that they might never meet.

Ken has repeatedly told Melissa that he would do anything for her. But would he truly do anything?

Humina, humina, humina.... ok, ok this review isn't going to write itself.

This story is a heart twister in the form of a book. It's heartwarming, and loving, and all those things that make you want to fall asleep with it next to you on the pillow.

Take this part for example (from page 26):
Later that night, as she lay in my arms sleeping, I wondered how it was possible that this had happened to me. I never dreamed of a woman like Melissa. I never believed it was possible that a person could make me feel the way she did. As I kissed her hair and settled my head against hers, though, I knew one thing for sure. I could never live without her. Now that she was here, now that she showed me what life could be like with a partner who thrilled me and challenged me and inspired me, I could never be satisfied with anything else.
I pulled her just a little tighter to me and felt immensely thankful that we would always be together.

See what I mean?? *sigh* Ah, true love.

Anyway, I find a love story from the male POV to be very refreshing. I have not found very often a gooey love story completely written in a single POV, much less that of the man of the relationship, and written by a man. I will confess, I don't normally go for this kinda thing, never having read a Sparks novel myself. But this book is worth it. For me this is a breath of fresh air, an easy read, mysterious and thought provoking as well.

Also interesting is the story's premise. How many of us actually get to prove, even if only to ourselves, that we would actually do anything for the one we love? Even if it costs us that very love.

Truly a pleasant read.. I give it
And those Di Luca boys in her Bella Terra series sure give good.. erm, wine.
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">The first book, <a href="http://christinadodd.com/excerpt/54/contemporary/secrets-of-bella-terra/" style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">The Secrets of Bella Terra<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">, begins as misfortune falls upon the Bella Terra Resort in the form of an attack upon the family matriarch, Nonna Sarah, requiring the family to come together to keep not only Nonna, but the resort safe and secure. But when you mix a family reunion and an old Italian feud with mischief, mayhem and a large dose of jealousy, the results can be disastrous.
<strike> </strike>

Rafe Di Luca.

No one need say more, really, for this man has everything this reader could want in a romance hero. First, he's an actual hero, a former serviceman, onetime POW, turned security consultant. Second, loyalty. He travels from a place no one but Christina Dodd and Google (I checked) has ever heard of, leaving his team behind, to come protect his home and dearest Nonna. Next...he is hot. H. O. T. *sigh* Because, let's be honest here. I think everyone of us has fantasized, at least once in our lives, that our significant other was a hot italian guy whose name ended in -ello. He also knows how to have a good time. For example, look at what happens in Chapter 18. I admit, I am sometimes envyious of the type of guy who could have this particular brand of fun. Sure, it hurts a bit for a while, but it's an awesome way to relieve some of that pent up frustration. Even better when your "partners" are willing participants :) Last, he sure knows his way around a woman, and yeah, that's what I'm talkin' bout.

Not to be forgotten, is our hostess with the mostest and thus honorary member of the family, Brooke Petersson. Brooke is a hard as nails child of two Air Force veterans. As manager(?) of the resort, she is forced to put away her past feelings for our hot hero and aid in the search for who turns out to be a killer. But who could completely harden their heart against a man like Rafe, especially with a past like theirs.

You will find that this blogger is a sizable Christina Dodd fan, read all her books, etc. etc. This new series keeps that trend alive. I have always loved her ability write captivating characters, believable plot lines and beautiful sceneries. This book is no different.

I'm giving it 5 pineapples...(gif to follow)

All the best,
