J.A. Saare's Dead, Undead or Somewhere in Between.
This is my first work by J.A. Saare and I must say she definitely does bring something new to the table. Though her vamps are fairly straight forward, no sun, holy water or sharp things made of silver, her take on necromancy definitely left the box behind. A bit strange to me for the zombie makers to be the good guys, but nevertheless fantastic. Then we'll mix in some humans addicted to vampire blood and you've got one hell of a party.
I must say I am in love with Rhiannon, this story's heroine. This girl's take no crap attitude is one I myself wish I could adopt. And I'd also like to adopt her tasty vampire lover or, hell, I'll take his broody right hand man. Or even their trusted necromancing familiar. Really I'm not picky. But Rhiannon can keep her gift of seeing the dead TYVM. Because, really who wants to wander around a city as great as The Big Apple and see all the spirits that must be haunting the streets there. Can you imagine?? I shudder at the thought. But I digress.
To my followers who may not have read this yet. Be forewarned my people! Dead, Undead or Somewhere in Between takes you to places you've always wanted to go, then to some places you've never wanted to go and abandons you with 2 wheels hanging off the edge of a very steep cliff. There is romance, mystery, and even some murder complete with an evil villain (who is still seriously creepin' me out!) And then your happy-ever-after giddiness slides right through your fingers in the last second. Cause this author is ebil...and she seemingly enjoys sticking it to people...even her mother!! See what I mean in this post of her BLOG
I am so so glad that I didn't find this book until the next one came out. Cliffhangers make my eye twitch. Unfortunately a condition not necessarily cured by reading the next book in the series. See my next blog about that when it's my stop on its virtual tour.

One bad corpse can ruin your whole day.
No one knows that better than Rhiannon Murphy. She’s left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance; she’s managed to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her – until now.
The deliciously good-looking vampire Disco knows her secret, and when he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, she discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no.
But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.
Well I think I slaughtered this review to death. I need to come up with some sort of rating system soon. Any suggestions??
